My Baby

In about 3 weeks, my baby will turn 2! We haven't completely ruled out the thought of #4, but for now, Adam is our baby and we're trying to enjoy each and every moment. By far he is our easiest baby. Maybe we're more relaxed, maybe we're TOO relaxed. Whatever the reason, he is a go with the flow, independent, happy boy!

Getting himself a snack

Dressing himself on a September morning

Feeding himself (Yes, he is squatting naked on the kitchen table.)

We love his little voice and his explosion in vocabulary:
"Chicken" = kitchen
"Why" after EVERYTHING we say!
"Move it, Mom!" I was on the computer and he wanted to look at the screen.

No Wonder He's Not A Morning Guy!

Matt has never been much of a morning person. It usually takes him a while to wake up and get going. Even as a baby, he rarely had those morning where he'd wake up cooing and happy. Oh no, Matt would wake up fussing, screaming and yelling!

The other night I went in to check on him, and this is how I found him sleeping.

On top of that, he has gotten himself into this HORRIBLE habit of waking up around 3:00 am and yelling, and I mean yelling like he's mad, for me to come and put his blankets on him. As you may recall, he's a kid who likes his routine, and he likes his blankets tucked in TIGHT. Believe me, we have practiced and practiced putting his blankets on himself, but he just can't get them the way he likes them. So for now, I've come to expect my 3:00 am wake-up call from Matt. I'm just thankful it can be over and done with in a matter of seconds, and not the nights of wailing like when he had chronic ear infections!

Maybe I should move him permanently to a sleeping bag??!!

Blog Drought

***FOR THE RECORD**
I am NOT an avid facebook user. Yes, it's fun to look up old friends and classmates, but I have no intention of getting hooked on Facebook! : )

No, I haven't forgotten about the blogging world. Now that our days are filled with typical routines, I don't feel like there is much to write about.

School for the boys is going well. There were a coule of bumpy lunch times for Matt regarding opening his milk carton, but we practiced at home and convinced him that it's okay to ask for help, and now he's an old pro at eating in the school cafeteria!

Ben is a week into swim club and really likes it. Last week he was learning how to dive off the blocks. His first meet will be Oct. 10th and we can't wait to see him in action!

Adam is our baby, but he's growing up SO fast! He really does seem to be almost two going on 5. He is Mr. Independent in just about everything he does. He continues to love driving his trucks and cars, and he's beginning to enjoy coloring.

Brian and I are busy with school and we are both still running. I am preparing for the Twin Cities 10 mile run in early October, and Brian is running his third half-marathon at the end of October.

Overscheduled?

If anyone has advice on how to tell when your child is overscheduled, I'd love to hear it! I don't think my kids are there...yet...but I want to be careful that it doesn't happen because I don't think it's good for kids.

Ben has been very interested in joining the local swim club, and after giving it some thought, we've decided to let him give it a try. He'll be practicing 3 days a week for an hour. That's on top of school, Sunday school, and church choir, all of which he also enjoys. It's only a 6 week commitment at first, with an option for another 12week commitment along with some weekend swim meets.

He's 7....is this too much? I didn't do any organized activity until I was in 9th grade!
