Tech Overload

In the past two weeks we have added an iPad and two iPad minis to our already full arsenal of screens in our house.

I was issued a work iPad, and Ben and Matt were issued the minis.  For a family that probably already has too much screen time, this is going to be even harder to control!

The picture doesn't include a desktop, laptop, 3 (non-smartphone) cell phones, an iPod Nano, 2 iPod shuffles, 2 digital cameras, 3 TVs, a PS3 and a Wii.

Wow, that's almost embarrassing to write.

Admirers

Now that the kindergarteners are becoming more proficient with writing and inventive spelling, Adam has been coming home with lots of notes from friends.  Often they say things like, "Adam yoo ar nis" or , "Adam is my frend."

Today he came home with this note:

Translation:  "Adam a lot of girls are in love with you and they want to marry you."

I asked Adam if he was a ladies man and he replied in his oh, so cool way,
"Well a lot of girls do like me!"

Things could get interesting over the next 10-15 years.

Matt's 10!

Oh, this boy has come such a long way!  The chronic fussiness and ear infections, not walking until he was 18 months old, difficulty with his speech and reading, adjusting to glasses and now allergy shots...he continues to amaze us with his perserverance.  Things haven't always come easy for Matt, but  he will always be the first of the boys to check in on someone who is sad or isn't feeling well and give a much needed hug.

He has been SO excited to turn double digits, and now, here he is...10 years old!!

Happy Birthday, Matt!  We love you very much!

Opening the much anticipated gift:  Skylanders Giants

We celebrated a few days early with family.

 A yummy cookie-dough ice-cream cake!

The surprise waiting for him on his birthday morning!

The Gift of an Ordinary Day

I have seen this clip before, but came across it again recently.  It is so worth the few minutes it takes to watch it.  It puts everything into perspective, and reminds us to appreciate the people in our lives now and each ordinary day.

Making Whoopie

Oh, stop it!  That's not what I'm talking about!

I had to use this title because I was making Whoopie Pies!  I had gotten a Whoopie Pie pan and cookbook for Christmas and have been wanting to try them.  They are delicious!  The recipe doens't make a lot, but they are filling, so you don't need many.  The flavor options are limitless.

Mine weren't quite as pretty as the cookbook, but not bad for my first try.

Lukey Bear

Somewhere along the line (I think it came from Holly), Luke became Lukey Bear.  When people say something to him like, "Is your name Luke?"  he'll reply, "No, it's Lukey Bear."

Lately he's been into saying his whole name:  Lukey Bear Randolph Moorlach.

More Baking

Adam continues to check out cookbooks almost weekly from his school library.  Not long ago we made a second large batch of gingerbread cookies.  Since we're past Christmas, we decided to pull out all kinds of cookie cutter shapes and had fun eating our gingerbread cowboy boots, among others!
