Crazy Start

The first 2 months of 2014 have been like no other year.  The biggest culprit has been the Polar Vortex.   We've now had 6 snow days off of school, and we're not into the snowiest month yet.

"Minnesota is cancelled"

We had a situation in our neighborhood a few weeks ago that brought in SWAT team members walking through our neighbor's yard with rifles (fortunately everything was resolved without incident).

I've also made the decision to return to work full-time in the fall.  I find myself counting the days and appreciating my mornings at home that much more right now.  A part of me is excited and ready to have my own classroom again, but of course a part of me is terrified for being a full-time working mom.

Matt is 11

We celebrated Matt's 11th birthday a couple of days ago.  I say it every year, but it is so hard to believe that the boys are growing up so fast.  Matt is in his last year of elementary school.  He plays the trombone, loves math and Minecraft,  and is making great gains in his reading.  He seems to feel okay about heading off to middle school next year, and remains my most compassionate boy.

He's looking forward to moving into a room of his own this summer, and we're planning on making it a Minecraft themed bedroom.  Matt is entering the tween years...ready or not, here we go!

Happy Birthday, Matt!  We love you very much and are so proud of you!
